Director,
Pahang State Forestry Department
Assalamualaikumwarahmatullahi wbt.
On 16 October 2019, the state government has declared that the four forest reserves surrounding TER
Mossy Forest – Batu Gangan Forest Reserve, Batu Gangan Tambahan, Hulu Ichat and Sungai Terla B, with
approximately 2,289.62 hectares - as official state parks. The Pahang State Forestry Department (Pahang
SFD) is regularly reviewing policies and implementing strategies for the sustainability of Pahang’s
ecological resources. At the same time, preservation efforts are in place while acquiring possible benefits
for the advancement of the economic and social landscape of the Pahang state.
Our role as an educator of our forests to various stakeholders, local and international agencies as well as
the general public remains our top priority. The previous publication received an overwhelming response
and has brought forth a heightened awareness on Pahang’s state parks. Hence, the idea of having
a sequel was conceived and “Taman Eko-Rimba Mossy Forest – Journey Through The Garden In The
Clouds“ is published. This book emphasises on the mystical beauty of Taman Eko-Rimba Mossy Forest
(TER Mossy Forest) in all its splendour. Being the biologically rich ecotourism site within the huge area
of Taman Negeri Cameron Highlands, TER Mossy Forest is, no doubt, a place teeming with wonderful
things waiting to be discovered. It is our vision to portray TER Mossy Forest as the “Garden in the Clouds”
through the lens of creative and super macro photography as well as the narrative of someone enjoying
the journey through the mystical mountains.
To make the visit to TER Mossy Forest a lot more pleasant for visitors, the Pahang SFD spent over
RM450,000 to install and upgrade facilities required to make the ecotourism attraction a world-class
destination. In an endeavour to ensure visitors’ comfort and safety, Pahang SFD hopes to gain continuous
support from the state government to elevate and boost TER Mossy Forest as one of the flagship
destinations for both domestic and international tourism.
I’m taking this opportunity to extend my appreciation to everyone especially to the publication team,
